Iden
(Currently in post-production)
After the passing of her grandmother, a Nikkei woman has to confront her personal need for closure against the desires of the dead.
IDEN is a film that explores the complexity of intergenerational grief through the lens of Nicole, a Yonsei American. Set after the death of Nicole’s Nisei grandmother, IDEN examines the costs of silence around trauma on successive generations. IDEN grapples with the roles played by both living and dead in the preservation and loss of these stories, and how ownership of our stories evolve through our descendants.
